Unique xeric and alpine plants, grown locally
Inspired by the mountains
Owner Ryan Dawes grew up exploring mountains, from Oregon's Wallowas (pictured above) to South America's Andes. He has always been awed at the pastels of Indian paintbrush and lupine meadows adorning treeline slopes, and at the unique succulents sprouting from granite boulder fields or basalt crevices. Raised on a small farm and plant nursery, he's collected and grown unique plants from a young age. It wasn't long after college that he bridged both passions together. Now, he and his wife Rachael look forward to sharing them with the local community.
Alpine Gardens is an Albany, Oregon-based nursery specializing in hardy cacti, succulents, wildflowers, and herbs.
Inspired by the beauty of subalpine and alpine environments, we want to share the intriguing flora of mountainous and xeric landscapes with our customers. We grow hard-to-find native succulents, cactus, and perennials not readily found in cultivation, as well as a wide variety of popular hardy succulents such as a ice plants and sempervivums. We also offer houseplant succulents, alpine container gardens, and a variety of locally-grown culinary and medicinal herbs. We sell at the Corvallis-Albany Farmer's market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, we deliver plants locally, and we will soon offer a mail-order selection through Etsy.
We're currently working on an online catalog of our plants, including photos and descriptions. In the mean time, we've uploaded a plant list of what we currently have available/what we project to have available before June.
